Website Credits:
- My mother, for encouraging me to do my best at everything, and for spending quality time with me as a child, for example by reading to me.
- My parents, for buying me computer and other equipment when I was young (at considerable sacrifice) to encourage my interest in technology and science.
- My uncle Steven Williams and grandmother Veronica Slyman, whose work in family history has given me a firmer sense of identity.
- Mr. Stephen Bell, my High School maths teacher who spent extra time giving me personal tuition without additional wages; who helped me to pursue mathematics well beyond the government's required syllabus.
- Dr. Manning, my strict-yet-friendly Maths tutor at Selwyn College, Cambridge, whose perseverence helped get me through my first year exams.
- Teachers and team leaders in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for inspirational personal examples, instruction and advice over the years
Original (still) compass image courtesy of Recta Compass Switzerland. Used by their kind permission. Other copyrighted graphics have been used by kind permission of the respective artists.
A limited number of graphics have been used without explicit permission, in accordance with the “fair use” copyright laws of the United Kingdom. For example, the photograph of the conical flask used on my menu, which was taken from the website of a company that supplies equipment for scientists; and the attractive “Tree of Life” pendant which is available as an item of jewellery with this name (every reasonable attempt was made to contact the artists concerned, but to no avail.) Since these photographs are not products per se (and nobody is trying to make any money out of them), and since single photographs were taken from websites containing hundreds or thousands of such, and since I am not using the images to compete with the originators in the same business and but only using the images for educational purposes; I consider this to be “fair use.” If the artists of these works find some way to contact me, I will be happy to include links here to their websites in exchange for explicit permission to use their work.
